September was a rather interesting month here. We started a small remodel project on the kitchen that blossomed into a major project. We had a tile back-splash installed, ordered new appliances, had a custom cabinet built for a wall oven and had to order two new cabinets to replace a pair of original cabinets that no longer worked in the new kitchen arrangement. The appliances were delivered late. Two of them were damaged and have yet to be repaired. The refrigerator and range would not fit in the space between the existing cabinets, so I had to “modify” the cabinets to get them installed. We are still waiting for the cabinets that we ordered to arrive, so the microwave is setting on the kitchen island. The phone calls, appliance installation and directing the tile-work guy used up a good bit of my shop time. So, I am running behind on my orders. Oh; and the sump pump quit last Saturday, so the basement flooded……
I am still working on the sub-hilt fighter. It is basically completed now, except for the engraving. I will engrave the guard, including the front of it, and the sub-hilt. I am currently working on the artwork for the engraving. The guard and sub-hilt are stainless steel. The blade is damascus in the “West Texas Wind” pattern. The handle material is mammoth tooth. The handle has a twist pattern damascus frame with file-worked stainless steel liners.
Not much else to report here, so I had better get to work. I should have photos of the sub-hilt fighter posted soon.
