I hope all had a good Thanksgiving.  Our family got together at daughter Jennifer’s house.  Son Chris and family and daughter Erika and her two kids joined us.  I cooked the turkey, as has apparently become family tradition.  Jennifer made a marvelous pumpkin pie for me.  I ate the whole thing myself, over the next few days.

We have received some great news.  Jennifer has told us that we will be having another Grandchild.  She is due to deliver in April.  This will be Grandchild number eight for us!!

I am still working on the dagger with the sculptured handle.  Work on it seems to be going well, as far as I can tell.  I had a disaster with one of the handle parts last week.  I had 10 hours of work in the piece and was using a Dremel burr to cut the sculpturing.  All was going well until my chair moved.  This caused me to loose control of the burr and cut a chunk out of a finished area, ruining the part.  I have since remade the part and am now continuing with the project.  At least I am now past the burr cutting and will not ruin the part again by that method.

I still have a lot of work to do on the “Mastersmith” knife for the ABS auction.  I need to get the dagger finished so that I can get onto the auction knife.  I am not happy with the pattern in the damascus that I had previously made for the blade, so I will have to make another billet.

Things are still coming along nicely with the formation of the Kansas Custom Knifemaker’s Association.  We have a member building a web site for us and it should be up soon.  We also have a member who has offered to host our first shop tour.  I will post up a notice of the date and time when it becomes available to me.
