March pretty much came in like a lion here today.  We’ve got a snowstorm going on here with high winds.  Yesterday it was really nice and got up to 60 degrees. I had the door to the shop open most of the day.  That kind of weather gives me spring fever.  Now today, we are back to winter weather.  That’s Kansas at this time of year.

Beginning today, my plan was to start working on the knives that I need to make for the Master Smith test.  However, I still have one custom order to finish and I am getting ready to go to the show in Wichita, KS this weekend.  I should be done with all of this in a few days.  THEN, I will start working on the Master’s knives.  For the last couple of weeks, I have been telling gun customers that I will not be able to work on their guns until July.  Some customers have chosen to leave their guns with me until I have time to work on them.  I will have to stop taking in guns soon, as I will not be able to put any more in my gun safe.

Starting today, I am taking the telephone out of the shop until I have the Master’s knives finished.  Customer calls are not a problem for me while I am working, but the telemarketers and solicitors for donations drive me crazy.  I do not want interruptions while I am working on these knives, so the phone has to go.  I will check messages and return calls a couple of times a day, so please leave a message and I will return your call.

I will report on the progress of the Master test knives each month in the newsletter.  I may post pictures of them on the website, but have not decided for sure about that.

The newsletter is kind of short this month, as I am anxious to get out to the shop and get to work.  I hope to see some of you at the show in Wichita.
