My apologies to all who have been looking for the May newsletter.  May 1st and May 2nd turned out to be impossibly hectic days.  I then drove to Arkansas for the Spring Hammer-In.  I spent Monday, May 5th with Gary Crowder, in his shop in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.  Gary showed me a lot of great stuff about building folding knives.

I am currently working on knives for the Blade Show.  I have posted pictures of a few that I have finished on the “Knife Gallery” page.  One is a Persian inspired fighter with a damascus blade and guard.  Also pictured are two of the Cimarron Cut-Off hunters with feather pattern damascus blades.  On the bench right now is a slip joint folder with a twist pattern damascus blade and back spring.  The handle material will be abalone shell.

The cataract surgery on my left eye went well; according to the surgeon.  My vision out of that eye for about three weeks was AWFUL.  It is still a little blurry, but when I went to the surgeon last week for my follow-up checkup, he told me that everything was fine.  I go to my optometrist this Friday to have him fix me up with a new lens for my glasses.  The problems that I had with my vision after the surgery slowed my work in the shop considerably.  I am now a little behind schedule on making the knives that I want to take to Atlanta.

I’ll keep this month’s newsletter short, as I need to get out to the shop and get to work.  I will try to post a more informative newsletter for June
