The AG Russell Show is fast approaching and I am working on knives for the show.  However, several of the knives that I will have there are custom orders, so they will be on my table, but not for sale there.  I currently have three completed knives (show on the “Available” page) that will be for sale.  I hope to have time to build something else to sell.

I just completed the engraving on an abalone handled folder.  I built the knife some time ago and have held it for a customer who wanted me to engrave it.  Photos of the knife are on the “Gallery” page.  I think that it came out pretty good.  I learned a lot about engraving while doing this knife, but still have a ways to go.  I can tell you that there is a whole world of difference between engraving on a nice flat practice plate and cutting on a knife with its curved surfaces and parts hanging out of the engraving vice, getting in the way of positioning your graver.  But, each piece brings new learning’s and understanding of how to go about the work.  I have changed my schedule to spending all day on Mondays to engrave.  I feel that I am able to focus better and accomplish more than I was when I was engraving for one hour a day.

I got a call from Dan Cassidy a couple of days ago.  Dan is the ABS’ new Web Master.  Dan and his wife have been building a new web site for the ABS.  The new site should be up in the next few months.  Plans for the site include a forum and Dan has asked me to be a Moderator for the forum.  In fact, he asked me to be the Head Moderator.  Dan also is working on a new brochure for the ABS.  Plans for the front cover of the brochure include two knife photos.  One photo will be of the last knife that Bill Moran made.  Dan would like to use a photo of the Dog Bone bowie that I recently built for the other photo.  So if this comes to pass, I will be very honored to have one of my knives pictured on the ABS brochure; plus having it displayed beside of Moran’s last knife.

I hope to see some of you at the AG Russell Show.  Have a great Independence Day!!
