March, 2010
Hello to all,
Winter has been pretty rough around here. We've had a LOT of snow and unusually cold temperatures. I've spent a lot of time shoveling sidewalks and clearing the driveway with the tractor. Much of this snow clearing time has been taken from my shop time, so it has not helped me catch up on knife orders.
The AKA show in little Rock was very good. Attendance by the public was better than I have ever seen at that show. I hope that bodes well for this year's knife shows. Attendance was way down at all of the shows that I was at last year. I sold two knives at the AKA Show and I heard from a lot of other makers that they had very good sales too.
I didn't get to teach the class at the Moran School of Bladesmithing. The class was canceled due to lack of enrollees. Maybe another time.......
Plans have been furthered for the ABS event to be held at my shop this fall. Plans are still tentative, but it likely will be the weekend of October 2nd and 3rd. It will probably be called the Heartland Bladesmithing Symposium. We should have everything finalized in the next few weeks. I will add information about the event to the web site as it becomes available.
The Kansas Custom Knifemaker's Association has a new forum on KnifeDogs.com. Today is the first day that it is up. I will post a welcome message on the forum later today.
I've got several knives in process right now. Most are simple pieces. I will post photos of some of them as soon as I have them finished.
